WHOEVER U R

On a road trip listening to some of my tunes the wife unit said that this recording had more credit than I had given. With her in mind I will gladly post Whoever u r and let others enjoy. Recorded on her laptop computer using free software that I found on the net. I recorded it as a draft and meant to rerecord it later but never did, so what we have is basically the demo version.

EVEL KNIEVAL

Just got the disturbing news that one of my childhood heroes has passed on. As a child I witnessed this stunt devil jump over cars on his stunt cycle, and remember his media enriched attempt at jumping the snake river in his super powered rocket cycle. I remember one of my favorite toys that showed up all the other kids on the block, was none other than the Evel knieval action figure with his most powerful stunt cycle. Let us take a little time out of this life to remember the daredevil in all of us. Your stunts live on buddy knieval. Robert Craig Knievel was born October 17, 1938, in Butte, Montana. When ever I pick up that guitar theres a little Evel in me wondering if I'll pull off that next stunt.

4 YOUR HAPPINESS

Spent all weekend trying to record some music. In my own vision I have failed miserably. Got the lyrics written and a few chords to go with them, but I'm just not sounding worthy of my own self.
I suppose I am trying to hard, I am hoping that sometime this week I'll have a little time to hit the record button again.

The Phillip K. Dick Reader

Got this as a loaner, A pretty good collection of Sci-Fi short stories, from Phillip K. Dick. A lot of them have been transfered in to cinema over the years. As a writer of science fiction Phillip has influenced many.

Yep

Man what a trippy life , I survived the 90's, 80's, 70's, and yes my ever chaotic humble beginning in the 60's.
I have fallen into an eager gladness that we have computers and all this internet thing, So I can do this to you, and I travel cyber space for jewels, Nothing is real again and again.
Man I will survive. again and again. Just for you.

found this in my travels.

Optische Täuschung

Day 1 (thoughts organizing into a something)

Let me go the other route. I have for the better part of most of this blogs history posted when I had a finished product to introduce to my friendly cyber-space dwellers. Well at this time I have nothing but the title Optische Täuschung. I am not sure of where this path shall take me, but I am on my way. Soon I will unlock the cavern like planetary studio and begin recording sounds and with mind and heart begin working into the sound scape of now. The beat will begin.........I will begin.........Let us begin.

Day 2 (reflecting on what I thought on day 1)

Had a manic day at work, so now I sit here unwinding trying to get into a creative state of mind. Last night before I shut the computer down for the evening I scribbled some thought into note pad, giving the song a little start. Most of my songs are subjective and really could mean anything.
Many years ago I lived in a little town that starved for real entertainment, every weekend hundreds of youth would pack into the local V.F.W hall, for a varied host of rock bands, some of the artist were from out of town some were local. I participated in these events by taking photographs and projecting slide shows during the performances. I had a lot of fun and made friends that I still run into on occasion. The memory of me and my trippy slides being projected seem to have cried out in my memory and so this topic is what I shall roughly base Optische Täuschung on.
Okay I went through and built up a drum beat using loops from some software files. Sounds like we are heading into70's influenced rock. Used files from an acoustic kit to give it a live sound a little compression to hold it down tight, and a some plate reverb to blend the loops together. The next step is to lay down some bass tracks. I am planning on using an old Casio sampling keyboard to lay down the low end. I will sample some bass notes from an actual bass then run the sampled sound through a stomp box to fuzz it out should sound really bizarre when I am done. This will have to wait for another day, as I am wiped out from a hard days work. The next step is to put the track into loop play , so that it plays over and over again, I'll turn it up as loud as possible so the thing gets real engraved into my brain and its all I think about for the next couple of days. Thats how I'll spend the rest of my lone evening, sipping on wine, thinking, believing.

Day 3(news)

Had a busy schedule and was unable to do any recording, in the news at least four people were killed when the eight-lane Interstate 35W bridge collapsed during rush-hour.

Day 4 (far from what I would like to be doing.)

Another exhausting day at work. Came home from work and vegged on IFC, watched a movie called "Primer". I was able to dig out my keyboard I still have some cables to find, and I will have to hook every thing up. Won't be this evening, to tired. I have an empty house this weekend so I will spend the weekend getting there. Crawling through the final stages of the work week.

Day 5 (Friday)

Made it through the work week came home and started drinking, Talked with a friend about a music video project we might start soon.

Day 6 (catching up on sleep.)

Spent several hours working on a bass line using the funky little keyboard, but I decided thats not what I was looking for. recorded the track using a 5 string bass. Then added two guitar tracks. tried to pull of some vocals but I just wasn't hearing it. so I let the tracks go and will wait till I have a little more grasped.

Day 7 (Reflecting a chrome bumper into the overcast sky.)

After some tight listening I have found this is yet going to be another instrumental track. I do believe vocals would simply crowd the topic, and take away from what the guitar is saying in its honest fashion. With all this noise gathered I will spend the next few moments pasting this into this very post.

PEACE THROUGH MUSIC.

Bhagavad-gita

This book was given to me from someone I thought highly of, A very old story, the Bhagavad-gita can change ones life, This was my introduction to Hindu scripture. I have since read many books on the subject, but this book is the one that I hold onto, and have reread many times

The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test

This was the first book that I read from Tom Wolfe, This book has aged into a history book for the underground hippy culture of the 60's. Covering many important scenes that would probably have been forgotten if this book was not written. Covers the Grateful dead , The Merry Pranksters, Neal Cassidy, and many more, as LSD ran free through the culture, and how the government made the flower power drug illegal. Tom Wolfe is wonderful at capturing the essence of a time with his books, Since reading The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test, I have gone on to read many of his books, and at times when I want to get some reading done, his books are first to be taken off the shelves.

The Good Earth

Another book that Ive read a few times, This is one of those books, that gives you a window into another culture. another time. Ive seen the movie made from The Good Earth, in all its black and white glory(released in 1937). It would be nice to see this one remade. Written By Pearl S. Buck , and First published in 1931, which was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for the Novel in 1932. It is the first book in a trilogy that includes Sons (1932) and A House Divided (1935). If you ever have felt connected to the land under your feet give this a read.

Happy Mother's Day

A special Thanks to all the Mothers that made me possible .

The Lords and the New Creatures

A collection of Poems From the lead singer of The Doors. I picked this copy up from a used bookstore, just before climbing onto a greyhound bus . As the bus hugged the coastal curves of highway 101, I put these poems into my mind and found some of the work quite good. Since then I have read this many times. This was his first publication of such. As a poet Jim Morrison found his own path, some of it found its way into the music some of it stayed within his journals. Part of me can't stand Jim and think his art lacks something, but part of me agrees that he was able to capture that L.A. muse like no other, and give it to us with a dark mysterious reptilian view.

The Secret Life of Plants

This book opened up a lot of doors for me, The words on the pages spoke magic to my spirit. If you have ever cared about a houseplant or spent time growing something in the garden, I recommend giving this a read. I understand there is also a movie that spins off the book, with Stevie Wonder
covering the soundtrack. I am looking into finding a copy and checking it out.

Atlas Shrugged

Ayn Rand's Novel "Atlas Shrugged", was one of those books that sat on my bookshelf a long time before I got down to business and read through all the pages. A book that was published back in 1957 and started its own controversial movement known as Objectivism. Back in high school they forced us to read "Anthem", which is a wonderful book in itself. I recently saw a commercial on tv that basically copied words right out of "Atlas" up until the product plug. I am waiting for the movie version to come out, I have heard that it will hit the screens around 2008. Lots of luck to them, this is not going to be a easy book to turn into cinema.

The Dharma Bums

Back before Nirvana hit the charts I took refuge with this little book. through the years I have reread this several times, and went on to enjoy the works of one of the characters in this book(Gary Snyder)
When Nirvana finally did hit the charts, I remember loaning this book out. and turning others on to it. My original copy disappeared and the copy I own now is falling apart. This is the first book that I ever read from Jack Kerouac, A decade later I finally read his more famous "On the road".

Some of the dharma

This collection of words sums ups Jack Kerouac's Buddhist study. There is some heavy stuff within these pages, I enjoyed every damn word.
