Boss ds-1 Mod

Got into my Boss ds-1 distortion unit and did the first stage of some mods that I am spilling some time into. This first mod is real wacky and I borrowed it from Casper Electronics. This mod is very easy and adds another dimension to this pedal. A simple addition of some wires a switch and a transistor (2N3904 NPN). For a entery level 80's distortion pedal this thing is starting to wake up. My next phase for this unit is to execute the Keeley seeing eye mod, just gotta find the correct guts.

Raspberry Filled Donut

Greetings from the Auxlo cave, just finished operating on one of my mod projects. I have decided to call this build my "Raspberry filled donut". Just added some new pickups that have given it an odd sound that I am getting to know. rewired the whole damn thing using wire schematics from a standard strat from the 50's, keeps it simple and to the point. Recorded a test to see how it does under the red light and noticed it records a lot hotter than some of my other devices, definitely a learning process in less is more. Learning to find its sweet spot will be a fun adventure. If you fear not the donut then have a listen.

Dirty Ebtides

Forgot to post one of my Recording projects. Features a couple of long time brothers of the revolution. Rob James and Kevin Ertel. This recording is me using the internet to bridge the gap of two musicians that live about 200 miles away from each other. This is our first draft and I hope to give it another shot some time this year. the tune is called "Ebtides" It was written by Rob where he lays down bass and drums and a few other parts at The Jamesdrive freestudio project. and then Kevin put down some guitar chops here at the auxlo studio.

Irig update

Ive had the pleasure of playing around with the Irig unit and the free amplitube app. and I do believe this is not a load of garbage. under the correct circumstances I do believe the muse of creative juices could flow. With a little app. purchace one could put together a cute little recording device for there Iphone although This would truly kick some A using an Ipad. I threw together a recording without thought for this post, just to show where the sonic realm of this sh*t can go. with a little thought and the purchase of unlocking the four track recorder one could have a lotta fun.

A few of draw backs that I found were that if you plug your unit in to a computer there is a lot of of line interference, so keep it unplugged and use the iphone battery. Irig really blows for acoustic stuff, you have to crank every thing up and you get a lotta noise. Maybe if you upgrade to a better app., but the free app blows for stuff that does not have some overdrive behind it, and to end my nonsense I will complete my complaining by saying the reverb is really lame so use it very carefully.

Got a new piece of gear today, I hope very soon to get active with it. I'll post as the scene develops.

The Jam is Gone

This Thanksgiving had the family over for food at the new house and hit the record button for one of the in-law's. Ray Walls was happy to share his song that he has been working on, called: "The Jam is Gone". I hope to do some more work with him in the future as I believe he has developed a wonderful acoustic sound. Check it out
